Tournament of Champions[]

In the third quarterfinal game, Keller faced off against Monica Thieu and David Gard. Throughout the first two rounds, he came up with 25/25 correct responses (including 2/2 Daily Doubles). He and Thieu got Final Jeopardy! correct. Keller advanced to the semifinals, while Monica and Gard received $5,000 as their scores, $11,000 and $100, respectively, were not enough to advance to the semifinals.

In the third semifinal game, Keller faced off against Keith Whitener and Paul Nelson. Throughout the first two rounds, he came up with 19/21 correct responses (including 1/1 Daily Double). Keller was the only player correct in Final Jeopardy!, but after losing to Keith (in a runaway game), Keller and Paul took home $10,000 each.

Trivia[]

  • Dave Leach, who later defeated him, won six straight games, and his successor, Dan McShane, won four straight games to advance to ToC, making it the first time in history that three consecutive champions advanced to the Tournament of Champions. In addition, Dave is the only champion who has beaten a champion with 5 or more wins in a row and has tied for the title among champions with 5 or more wins in a row.
