Season 32 (2015-2016)[]

Season Changes[]

  • New opening sequence: a maze lights up in peach by passing through photographs until the blue marbled Jeopardy! logo reaches its destination at the end in a blue and red sky background. Finally, the blue marbled Jeopardy! logo zooms forward, revealing the 2013-present set.
  • The Daily Double, Audio Daily Double, and Video Daily Double graphics gained a new look to match the season's title card.
  • On early episodes of this season, the copyright and "Created By Merv Griffin" credits are still in the violet color scheme and fonts used since Season 28. Later in this season, the copyright and "Created By Merv Griffin" credits are changed to a blue marbled color scheme with only the copyright card in a different font.
  • This is the second time in the shows history where the reigning champion did not return.
  • This is the last season to use the Jeopardy! round "Board Fill" sound effect introduced in Season 26.
  • Starting this season, Oxford University Press now has a blue marbled background with still the white words OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS.
  • This is also the second season since Season 11, where no female champions for this season made it to the upcoming Tournament of Champions.
  • This is also the first season where "We Asked" celebrities appears at the end of the Jeopardy! or Double Jeopardy! round.

  • September 25, 2015: Matt Jackson makes his Jeopardy! debut.

October 2015[]

  • October 9, 2015: Emily Rollman is disqualified from playing Final Jeopardy due to finishing the Double Jeopardy round in the red with -$1,200.
  • October 14, 2015: Matt Jackson finishes with a 13 day total of $413,612.
  • October 29, 2015: Damien Martin is disqualified from playing Final Jeopardy due to finishing the Double Jeopardy round in the red with -$1,000.

November 2015[]

  • November 9-20, 2015: The Tournament of Champions aired. Alex Jacob won the tournament and $250,000. Matt Jackson received $100,000 and Kerry Greene received $50,000.
  • November 25, 2015: The last episode in the Alex Trebek era where only one Daily Double was played on time.

December 2015[]

  • December 21, 2015: Three new contestants (Liz Quesnelle, Jay O'Brien, and Shoshana Gordon Ginsburg) competed. It is the second time in the shows history since Season 25 where the reigning champion did not return. Claudia Corriere, who won her second game on December 18, 2015, was unable to attend the taping session due to a job accepted in between tapings, and thus, her third game was put on hold until January 18, 2016. From this episode until the first one of 2016, Alex had successful knee surgery; so he remained at his podium throughout the whole game like he did the first three months of Season 28, due to mobility issues. He didn't walk onto the set during the introductions but was already at his podium. Alex used a cane for the closing credits and the contestants still stand in their podiums.
  • December 29, 2015: Ashley Wilson lost to a disadvantage by a poorly worded final Jeopardy clue.
  • December 31, 2015: Ashley Wilson returned to the show and lost two days later.

January 2016[]

  • January 4, 2016: Alex returns to full mobility.
  • January 18, 2016: All three contestants (Mike Drummond, Claudia Corriere, and Randi Kristensen) finished Final Jeopardy! with $0, so the January 19, 2016 episode began with three new players. This marked the last time a 3-way loss occurred in the Alex Trebek era. It was also the second instance to feature returning co-champions as a rare occurrence only applying to champions previously unable to return, and the first time after the co-champion rule was disestablished early last season. The copyright credits are now in the same font and color scheme as the contestant introductions and Final Jeopardy! winnings indicators. The "Created by Merv Griffin" credit also changed to the blue marbled color scheme, but is still in the same font used since Season 28.
  • January 19, 2016: There were three new contestants (Hans Kamm, Matt Egbert, and Kyle Webb) for the second time in this season and two of the three Daily Doubles are seen on time.
